KAFA in more schools projects

Since the beginning of 2007, KAFA has become more and more active in the local Idrottslyftet project. We are now visiting schools in Stockholm’s Skarpnäck district, as well as Liljeholmen, where we have been working since September 2007.

Also new for 2008, is our involvement in the Talang över Gränser project in Stockholm’s Hägersten-Liljeholmen district. The main aim of Talang över Gränser is to build bridges and break down barriers between the 12-year-olds of a few local areas. This exciting project currently has three main activities, and KAFA, along with a number of other local non-profit organisations, is active in all of them.

  1. KAFA is helping children in Västertorp, Hägersten and Fruängen make friends through fun two-hour football sessions in schools. Each session is at one of the schools and children from the other two schools are taken there to play.
  2. KAFA is doing monthly full-day sessions with children from Bredäng and Mälarhöjden schools. Although only a few hundred metres apart, these two areas have huge social, economic and ethnic differences. Thanks to this project, children who might not normally meet are now having fun and solving problems together.
  3. KAFA is looking forward to starting off the new voluntary drop-in sessions where children from all five schools can come along once a week and enjoy fun football together. These sessions start on Tuesday March 11 and will take place at Hägersten school, from 3 to 4.45 pm every week until the end of May.
